Felsenegg & the Cable Car

The scenic way back down

Felsenegg is a viewpoint on the Albis ridge at about 800 metres, directly above the town of Adliswil. It marks the end of the Planet Trail and has a restaurant with a broad terrace looking over Lake Zurich to the Alps.

It is also the top station of the Luftseilbahn Adliswil–Felsenegg (LAF), a small cable car that has linked the Sihl valley with the ridge since the 1950s. The ride takes only a few minutes, and because the cable car belongs to the Zurich public-transport network it is covered by ordinary zone tickets.

Top things to do: Felsenegg & the Cable Car

Ride the cable car

The cabins float up over the forest with a widening view of the lake. In clear weather sit or stand facing the valley on the way down.

Enjoy the terrace

The restaurant terrace is one of the finest places near Zurich for a drink with a view. On fine weekends it fills up quickly.

Walk on, or walk down

From Felsenegg the ridge path continues south to Buchenegg and the Albispass. Alternatively, a forest path descends to Adliswil in about 45 minutes.

  • Starting at Felsenegg and walking to the Uetliberg reverses the Planet Trail and ends with the easy S10 ride down.
  • In fog season Felsenegg is often above the clouds as well.
  • Dogs are allowed in the cable car.
